Therapy is a safe and confidential space where the client and the therapist address specific concerns by exploring them, connecting patterns and developing insights, processing underlying feelings and the ways in which they keep the client stuck, and developing new skills and strategies to bring about desired change in the client.
Therapy is not a linear process. Ups and downs are expected in therapy and the therapist is available to support the client throughout the process. The therapist does not give advice or offer solutions to the client, their role is to support the client in figuring out the best course of action for themselves. Thus, therapy requires willing engagement from the client in order for it to be effective.
Seeking therapy requires courage and is a beautiful commitment one can make to prioritise their well-being.
1. Reach out to me via email or fill out the inquiry form to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. The purpose of the consultation call is mainly to determine the client-therapist fit. The therapeutic relationship is an important aspect of the process of therapy and is a big indicator of positive outcomes. Therefore, the consultation call helps us in finding out whether we are the right fit for each other. During the consultation, if we realise that we are not the right fit, I offer referrals to other professionals who might be more suited to the client's requirements.
2. Post consultation, if we proceed with therapy, I will share the paperwork that has to be filled, reviewed and signed by the client. The paperwork includes various details like the consent form, confidentiality policy, appointment and cancellation policy, payment details, and other relevant information regarding the therapy process. Once the paperwork has been submitted, we schedule the first (intake) session. The link for scheduling future sessions is also shared with the client.
The first session is an intake session which lasts 90 minutes. All following sessions are for 60 minutes.
The general recommendation is to meet weekly in order to maintain continuity and consistency. However, the frequency of sessions varies as per client's requirements and preferences.
Many clients reserve a weekly slot while many clients prefer more flexibility and schedule sessions on the go. We can come to an understanding regarding what works for you.
Therapy aims for long-lasting changes and is a long-term process, typically lasting from several months to several years. There is no fixed timeline - it varies depending on individual requirements and preferences.
Some clients prefer to stay in therapy for a few months to work on specific concerns, while some clients prefer long-term work lasting years. It is also a normal practice for clients to take a break from therapy and resume as and when required.
I work from 11 AM IST to 7 PM IST on all days except for Wednesdays and Sundays.
After the consultation and intake process, l'll be sharing an appointment link through which clients can schedule sessions based on mutual availability.
